The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced a second wave of refund payments totaling over $126 million for Fortnite players affected by Epic Games’ past billing practices. This move follows the gaming company’s settlement with the FTC, in which it agreed to pay $245 million in 2022 after being accused of tricking players—many of them children—into making unwanted purchases.
This new round of refunds, distributed between June 25 and June 26, 2025, comes after the FTC issued its first round of payments in December 2024, totaling more than $72 million. With nearly $200 million now reimbursed, this marks one of the most significant consumer protection refund efforts in gaming history.
According to the FTC, the latest wave includes 969,173 payments through checks and PayPal. Players or their guardians who submitted valid claims were able to choose their preferred refund method when completing their initial forms.

Those receiving checks are encouraged to cash them within 90 days, while PayPal recipients should redeem the digital payments within 30 days. The FTC emphasized the importance of acting promptly to avoid forfeiting the refund.
Additionally, the FTC has reopened the claim process for anyone who hasn’t yet submitted one. Eligible players now have until July 9, 2025, to visit http://www.ftc.gov/fortnite and file a request for compensation.
